Q: After I select an item, why does it not appear in my shopping cart?
Like most e-commerce sites, our shopping cart uses cookies to track your purchases,
and ensure that your order is secure. However, if your browser security is set very high, it will not
accept cookies from our site and we have no way
to track your order and ensure it is associated with your session. To enable cookies for Internet Explorer (IE)
go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click on the privacy tab, then the Edit button (under web sites).
Enter our web site into the field (use both www.cityescapesphotography.com and www.city-escapes-photography.com)
and press the allow button. In some cases, you may need to restart the browser for this change to take effect.
Q: Why do I need to create a Google Checkout account to complete my purchase?
As is common with e-commerce sites, a user account must be created in order to complete
a purchase from our site. On many sites, this information is managed locally by the store.
This has two major drawbacks: you have to create a different account for each store you
shop at, and your personal information (name, address, credit card number) is stored by
the merchant at their site. By using Google Checkout, we eliminate both of these concerns.
Your same Google account can be used to pay for purchases at thousands of on-line stores,
and Google manages all of your personal information, not the individual retailers. In
particular, this means that while we require a valid email address, name, and shipping
information so we can inform you of your order status and deliver your purchases, we
never see your credit card information. Instead, we receive your payment directly from
Google, without knowing how the funds were transferred. This provides you with significant
additional security – and hopefully additional convenience.
Q: How secure are my credit card numbers?
Very secure. City Escapes uses a third party, Google, to immediately process your credit card information.
Google Merchants
security environment, in particular that of its credit card processing web page, is among the best
available and has been approved by the
credit card companies as meeting their strict security standards.
Your credit card information is stored only at this third party sight;
City Escapes does not recieve or store your credit card numbers at any time.
Q: Why am I having problems completing my credit card transaction?
We are sorry to hear that you are having problems using our web site. While we have tried to test the system across multiple
browsers and configurations, there is always the chance we missed something. One of the most common issues we find is a
configuration issue, in which your browser security settings are preventing the credit card processing system from working
properly. Please check to ensure that you browser has
- Cookies enabled. In particular, since cookies are set by Google, not City Escapes, you may be required
to grant additional permissions to our site, depending on your browser.
- Javascript enabled. Without Javascript enabled, your purchase will not be added to your cart
and you will not be able to check out. If you are not able to view the shopping cart, it is likely that you
do not have javascript enabled.
