Bison, Bison bison
As the spring brings warmer weather, many animals, including bison, shed their heavy winter coats in an effort to stay cool. Bison scratch their heads and necks against trees to help pull off pieces of their longer fur, and they roll in dust baths to help pull off the shorter hairs on the back half of their bodies. After finding a suitable spot to lie down, they roll their massive bodies back and forth, using the ground to scratch off the old coat, creating a sizeable dust cloud in the process. The dust also helps to control parasites that would like a free ride.
