Felis serval
Normally nocturnal, servals' prefered habitat is among tall reeds and rushes along marshlands. Here, they hunt mice, rats, and other similar prey, although frogs are a favorite. They have quite an impressive leap for their size: they can jump 13 feet horizontally and more than 3 feet vertically, allowing them to surprise their prey and pin it to the ground.
In some parts of the world, servals are welcomed by farmers, because they essentially act as feral barn cats, helping to control rodents. Servals are loners, and are generally too small to attack livestock, topping out at about 40 pounds.
