Released 2009-06-01 Panthera leo Until you see a lion in its natural habitat, the significance of its coloration is difficult to understand. Once you see them among the dry grasses of the African savannah, however, it suddenly makes perfect sense: lions' coats are almost precisely the same color as the grasses through which they prowl for food, or in this case, sprawl out for a nap. It is more than a little disconcerting to be looking over an empty grassland, only to suddenly realize that it is not quite as empty as you thought: a pair of eyes are looking back at you. Or perhaps several pairs of eyes...
