Gray Heron, Ardea cinerea
Gray herons are found throughout much of the world. They live in areas with shallow bodies of fresh water, where they can find abundant sources of fish to eat. This shallow pond, though in equatorial Africa during the dry season, nonetheless holds enough plant and fish life to keep this heron sustained until the rains return.
"Nature is art brought to life: often beautiful and inspiring, always fragile and in need of loving care" -- Jodi Gaylord
