Released 2011-10-30 Yellow Warbler, Dendroica petechia Yellow warblers are very common songbirds. Their reach is extensive: the summer breeding season finds them in northern Alaska and the Yukon all the way to Baja Mexico and the Carolinas, while their winter territory stretches to Colombia and Venezuela in South America. The song of yellow warblers is commonly rendered as "sweet, sweet, I'm so sweet," and would almost certainly be recognized by most North Americans. Active, energetic birds, photographer James Ownby refers to the yellow warbler not as sweet, but rather as "a demon in feathers, who takes special delight in tormenting photographers who think they'll get an easy photo." Though I am not certain that I agree, I am not certain that I disagree, either.
