The loneliness of a leafless tree, branches twisted by years of fierce winds, seems even more desolate in the featureless terrain of a field covered by a deep blanket of snow. A momentary break in a winter windstorm provided the opportunity to capture this peaceful-looking image, but it belies the fierceness of the wind, the biting cold, and the blowing snow.
