Released 2009-06-01 Ardea cinerea Grey herons are found near watering holes, hippo pools, and marshy areas, where they wade slowly along the edges of the water, looking for fish. When a fish comes within range of the heron's long neck, the bird will tilt forward and slightly extend its neck, before suddenly exploding forward with its beak to stab at its prey. On the African savannah, grey herons are often found in hippo pools, frequently lounging on the backs of the pool's namesake animals. The hippos do not seem to mind this, nor even, most of the time, to even notice.
